(WASHINGTON D.C., September 29, 2018) – ICNA CSJ launches petition to ask Congress to recognize American Muslim roots. It requests the House to support H.Res 869 introduced by Rep. Judy Chu earlier this year.
The resolution is entitled Recognizing American Muslims’ History and Contributions to Our Nation. It seeks to recognize American Muslims’ contributions to our nation, dating back to before the Revolutionary War. It points out the significant contributions American Muslims have made to strengthen the U.S. economy, working as physicians, business owners, professional athletes and in other leading careers. It calls attention to Muslim American efforts to serve their fellow citizens as elected officials or representatives, police officers, fire fighters, soldiers and more.
At the moment 31 members of Congress have co-sponsored the resolution! ICNA CSJ needs your help. Please sign the petition and reach out to your representatives and ask them to support H.Res 869.
