ICNA wishes you a blessed Eid Al-Adha

ICNA wishes you a blessed Eid Al-Adha! We encourage our members and the general Muslim community to celebrate Eid with your local masajid, communities and Islamic centers.
As nearly 3 million Muslims descend upon Makkah in these blessed days, we are reminded of the universal spirit of brotherhood that is embodied by the pilgrimage. We hope that American Muslims will observe this day with full piety and dignity—making dawah to our neighbors, co-workers and friends as we embrace this joyous season.

We hope you have taken advantage of these first ten days of Dhul Hijja, of which the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: “There are no days more loved to Allah for you to worship Him therein than the ten days of Dhul Hijja. Fasting any day during it is equivalent to fasting one year and to offer Salatul Tahajjud [late-night prayer] during one of its nights is like performing the late night prayer on the Night of Power.” (Reported by Tirmidhi) Read more about the virtues of these days here.

Fasting on the day of Arafah, the 9th of Dhul Hijja, is especially important. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said, “Fasting the day of Arafah expiates the sins of two years: a past one and a coming one.” (Reported by Muslim).

Eid Al-Adha commemorates the tradition of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH), and Muslims around the world sacrifice an animal and share it with those in need to mark this day. We encourage you to support the Udhiya (sacrifice) efforts of ICNA Relief (domestic) and Helping Hand (international) by visiting icnarelief.org and hhrd.org.

May Allah Most High accept our efforts in His way and allow us to reap the benefits of Dhul Hijja. May He accept the Hajj of those brothers and sisters fortunate enough to embark on this unforgettable journey and allow us all to visit His beloved house in the years to come. Ameen.

Please accept our warmest congratulations on this blessed occasion and keep us in your prayers! Eid Al-Adha Kareem!

The inclusion of poor in our festivity must be done without which we cannot complete our service to Allah SWT. How many societies the poor is left out of the pie and the rich eats the entire pie. A few weeks ago, we celebrated Eid-ul Fitr. And on that Eid, we enjoy its virtues by giving the Zakaat-ul Fitr to the poor before we begin the Eid prayer. This Eid we have to complete its celebration by giving 1/3 of the meat to the poor and needy. As Allah SWT says: Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor who have a very hard time.
