Nepal Earthquake – Helping Hand’s Response

(NEW YORK, NY, April 28, 2015) – Joining the global relief response to the disastrous 7.8 magnitude Nepal earthquake, Helping Hand for Relief and Development’s Emergency Response Program has immediately set to work.
At its Disaster Management and Logistics Center in Rawat, Pakistan, EMR has prepared relief cargoes for Nepal containing medicine, medical supplies, and basic items such as blankets and food for the stricken.
Additionally, HHRD has formed an eight member team, including physicians, orthopedics, a physiotherapist, and relief workers, which is ready to enter Kathmandu and assist in the efforts to provide aid.
The powerful earthquake and its numerous aftershocks have left 2300 people dead and over 4500 injured. An estimated 4.6 million people have experienced the quake, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
To facilitate disaster relief, HHRD has established a Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund through existing partner NGOs in the region, HHRD will continue to monitor the situation as their teams work to provide immediate emergency relief.
The people of Nepal and those affected by the earthquake are in need of urgent aid and relief assistance. They have lost their homes and loved ones.
