ICNA Stands in Solidarity with Attacked Baptist Churches

02 16 06

JAMAICA, New York (February 16, 2006) – The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), a grassroots organization of American Muslims, has strongly condemned the senseless arson attacks on ten Baptist churches in Alabama, five of which were burnt to the ground.

We stand in solidarity with these ten communities, all of which have been unjustly subjected to the damage to or loss of their houses of worship. This event has left many horrified. We implore the authorities to work vigilantly till the wrong doers are apprehended. We also call people of all faiths to extend their moral support to the communities which are victims of this tragedy. Islamic teachings emphasize having respect for places of worship.
