ICNA Colorado Celebrates Black History Month

(DENVER, CO, Jan. 30, 2015) – The Islamic Circle of North America, Colorado, in conjunction with the Muslim Student Associations in Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins and local mosques, is proud to present a variety of events to celebrate Black History Month.

Imam Khalid Griggs, the Imam of the Community Mosque of Winston-Salem in North Carolina, plans to tour universities and Islamic centers in a first-of-its-kind event in the Denver and Fort Collins area, including University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado State University in Fort Collins, and the Islamic Center of Boulder. He will discuss relevant and current issues such as institutional racism, Islam and social justice, as well as Islam’s role in the civil rights movement.

Imam Griggs is a political science and English graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C. He has been active in the Muslim and Black communities, and currently serves as the assistant chaplain at Wake Forest University.

The Muslim Student Associations and ICNA-CO invite you to join them for thoughtful conversation about race and civil rights. The events scheduled are as follows:
