ICNA Condemns Attacks on the Capitol

Jan 7, 2021

—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—

JAMAICA, New York (January 06, 2021) – The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) vehemently condemns today’s violent terrorist attack on the U.S. Capitol and also calls on authorities to leave no stone unturned to bring safety to the citizens and lawmakers while ensuring the perpetrators are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

ICNA also urges governments at all levels to protect our institutions of democracy and asks politicians to be careful of making statements that inflame hatred and extremism as witnessed for the past 5 years. This rhetoric has led to the increasing polarization of our society and attacks on minorities and their places of worship.

ICNA hopes for the safety of all those who have been caught in today’s attacks and stands firm with the institutions of our democracy and justice.

The Islamic Circle of North America is a leading American Muslim organization dedicated to the betterment of society through the application of Islamic values. Since 1968, ICNA has worked to build relations between communities by devoting itself to education, outreach, social services and relief efforts.
