HOUSTON, TX (December 4, 2019) – The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) organized its regional convention during the Thanksgiving weekend in Houston, Texas. The convention attracted over 2,700 people from all over Texas.
The three-day convention was supported by over 100 volunteers and featured nearly 30 main and parallel sessions in English, Bangla, Arabic and Urdu. Highlights included screening of the movie “Righteous Sinner”. A community leadership dinner was arranged featuring community leaders of various organizations attended including Muslim leaders running for local political positions including Letitia Plummer. The bazaar had more than 50 vendors traveling from various states.
The convention included a parallel Youth Conference, health fair, Quiz Bowl for Families and Children, Matrimonial Services, Islamic Arts Workshop and Class, Revert Stories, Job Networking Workshop, and a session entitled “Meet Your Muslim Neighbor” attended by local politicians, city council members, interfaith leaders and others from the general public.
