JAMAICA, New York (August 25, 2010) – To honor and welcome the blessed month of Ramadan, ICNA Sisters’ Wing held “Welcome Ramadan” programs nationwide as well as Tafseer-ul-Quran (Quranic exegesis) sessions.
ICNA Sisters’ Wing’s annual online Tafseer-ul-Quran in English began on July 19th and continued through the middle of Ramadan with an attendance of 250. The entire Quran was covered in daily sessions that took place from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm Eastern on Paltalk. Three online sessions also took place in Urdu with an average of 125 attendees.
70 Urdu and 13 English classes were also conducted in person with an average attendance of 20-25 students. These classes were held in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Kentucky, Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York and Santa Clara. These in person sessions covered selected chapters of the Quran.
Today marks the 20th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. It serves as both a reminder of one of the most traumatizing occurrences to unfold on American soil and as a testimony to the resilience of every community living here in America.
