MATAMORAS, PA -The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) plans to give out over 500 free school bags and school supplies to families in Matamoras this Thursday, August 7th, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Hundreds of children in Matamoras will receive free school bags filled with school supplies at the event, one bag per child present. Each bag will contain essential supplies including notebooks, pens, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, rulers, crayons and more. The event is organized by Muslims but caters to all faiths, race and ethnic backgrounds.
School supplies will be distributed at 200 Pennsylvania Avenue in Matamoras.
This is ICNA’s second Back-2-School Giveaway event in Matamoras, this project hopes to empower children with the tools to have a bright education as well as help struggling families provide for their children.

Why doesn’t ICNA suggest or demand that the name “Matamoras” be changed since it
is historical a bigotry term of hate for Muslims. It means “kill Muslimas”
