ICNA’s Statement on the Detained American Muslims

JAMAICA, New York (December 10, 2009) – In a press release issued today, the Islamic Circle of North America offered its full support to federal law enforcement in the investigation of five American Muslims detained in Pakistan yesterday.

 


“Five American Muslims were taken into custody in Pakistan yesterday. The facts surrounding the detainment have not been fully disclosed, and numerous statements from law enforcement officials indicate that the investigation is still in its preliminary stages.”

 

“Extremism has no place in Islam, and ICNA works tirelessly to oppose extremist and violent ideology. We stand beside local and federal law enforcement and hope that this matter is resolved very soon.”
