FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
American Muslims are appalled at the assassination of former prime minister of Pakistan Ms. Benazir Bhutto and the killing of dozens of people in Rawalpindi. We condemn this heinous action and its perpetrators. Our heartfelt condolences go for the bereaved family, who have gone through such tragedies time and again.
It is unfortunate and unacceptable that anyone would resort to means of violence in order to affect political change. The extremists are enemies of Islam and humanity. All peace-loving people must unite against them. We pray and hope that the people of Pakistan, a majority Muslim country, observe the Islamic virtue of patience and refrain from rioting and the escalation of violence. The perpetrators of this attack must be brought to justice in a court of law as soon as possible.
