—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—

NEW YORK, NY (January 29, 2017) – The Islamic Circle of North America’s Council for Social Justice (CSJ) strongly condemns the Muslim ban.

The Executive Order entitled “Protecting the Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States,” was signed by President Trump on Friday, January 27, 2017. The order limits or bans immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.
There is no justification for such a bigoted order. Apart from being the fact that not a single refugee from any of the mentioned countries has ever perpetrated an attack on U.S. soil, the order violates American values of diversity and inclusion and discriminates on the basis of national origin and ethnicity.
ICNA members have actively participated in anti-ban protests in Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Orlando, and Baltimore airports. They also provided food to the needy and worried family members in New York.
ICNA CSJ demands that President Trump put a halt on the Executive Order and promote the great American values of liberty and justice for all.
