February 7, 2014 – Impressed from Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s persona and his unparalleled cricket career, the mayor of Port Arthur, a city in US state Texas, has declared February 5 as “Shahid Afridi Day.”

The all-rounder is currently in US being invited by Islamic Circle of North America’s (ICNA). During the trip, he will also visit New York, New Jersey and Florida.
The mayor Deloris “Bobbie” Princealso awarded the honorary keys of the city to all-rounder, Anjum Tahirkheli, chairperson of the Shahid Afridi Foundation confirmed.
Prior to his visit to New York, Afridi visited Texas and Louisiana for fund-raising campaign for the foundation.
The ICNA has also staged a cricket camp in New Jersey.
Afridi has represented the national team in 27 Tests, 373 one-day internationals, and 70 Twenty20 international since making his debut in October 1996.
Due to his activities in US, Afridi had last month pulled out of the national T20 tournament.
