Bangladesh leader’s execution is a political murder

12 12 13

-—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—-

NEW YORK, NY (December 12, 2013) – The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) strongly condemns the execution today of Abdul Quader Mollah, the Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh’s Jamat-e-Islami party by Shaikh Hasina’s government.

ICNA President Naeem Baig said “this is a political murder and a dark day for justice”. Death sentences of political prisoners being handed down through unjust judicial process may plunge Bangladesh into violence, political tyranny, and social anarchy.

World leaders, including US Secretary of State John Kerry and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had personally appealed to the Bangladesh Prime Minister to halt the execution. United Nations, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and several international bodies have condemned the way these courts were established and trials conducted.

The judgment is a result of a trial where the defense teams faced severe obstructions including abduction of their witnesses, disallowing defense evidence or witnesses, and circumventing legal procedures like changing of the law to allow the prosecution to pursue the death penalty after a verdict of life sentence had been reached. These courts are not recognized by any international human rights or legal body as being fair and adhering to international standards.

Allah (swt) reminds us in the Quran (2:154) “And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah, “They are dead.” Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not.”

The night before his execution, Mollah had said, as conveyed by his family, “I am absolutely innocent. I am being murdered as I am involved with the Islamic movement.” He further added “My every single (drop of) blood will mobilize the Islamic movement and will bring the doom of the autocrats. I am not worried for myself. I am worried about the fate of this nation and the Islamic movement.”

Take Action:
Ask the President and the Secretary of State to demand the Bangladeshi government to immediately halt these trials and executions.
The Whitehouse: (202) 456-1111
The State Department: (202) 647-4000

Hasina and her father, Mujibur Rahman are notorious war criminals. They commited several crimes including corruption, murder and many more before 1971, during 1971 and after 1971!

  • Adam Muhammed

    The Daily star?

    Wow.

    Talk about irrefutable evidence.

I guess it MUST be true if the government said it right?

  • Adam Muhammed

    Eyewitness? Or paid witness?

Please read up on law before posting ridiculous comments.

  • Adam Muhammed

Please refrain from mentioning Allaah (Swt)’s name since you so clearly hate his religion and everything that it stands for.

The only thing that is proven is your ignorance and your blatant hypocrisy.

“O you who believe! If some transgressor brings you news (that requires
taking action), verify it carefully (before you believe and act upon
it), lest you harm a people in ignorance and then become regretful for
what you have done.” (Surah Al-Hujurat)

“Why then, did not the believers, men and women, when you heard
it, think good of their own people and say: “This is an obvious lie”

Why did they not produce four witnesses against him Since they
have not produced witnesses! Then with Allah, they are the liars.

Had it not been for the grace of Allah and His mercy unto you
in this world and in the Hereafter, a great torment would have touched
you for that whereof you had spoken.

“When you were propagating it with your tongues, and uttering
with your mouths that whereof you had no knowledge, you counted it a
little thing, while with Allah it was very great.

And why did you not, when you heard it, say: “It is not right
for us to speak of this. Glory be to You (O Allah)! This is a great
    lie.’

Allah forbids you from it and warns you not to repeat the like of it forever, if you are believers.

And Allah makes the Ayat plain to you, and Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

Verily, those who like that immorality should be circulated
among those who believe, they will have a painful torment in this world
and in the Hereafter. And Allah knows and you know not.” (Surah Al-Nur)

    “Us, muslims”

    Please, don’t refer to us.

    There’s no us.

There’s hypocrites (like you) and there are those who strive for truth and justice, who honour their pledges with God.

  • Adam Muhammed

Islam supports those who strive for truth and justice. The Maulana was one of those people.

Islam doesn’t support individuals who slander others, who peddle lies and falsehoods about others, who make incredibly serious allegations about others without having seeing any evidence, all because of their desires, their lust for blood and their insecurities and biases.

In fact, no religion, nor system supports these kind of individuals and in most situations, would find them guilty of propagating fabrications about others.

  • Adam Muhammed

“We expect ICNA to act in much more sensible fashion by not announcing such one sided controversial statement.”

Who’s “we”? You and Hasina? Please leave aside your grandiose delusions and your inflated assumptions about who important your opinion is.

The only thing controversial is your sense of humanity, truth, justice and faith. Muslims aren’t confused about anything. At least most aren’t. The truth is clear. The only thing that isn’t clear you’re understanding of law, justice, Islam and logic.

  • Adam Muhammed

    I’m speechless as well.

    Speechless about your ignorance.

I think the following verses from the Qur’an (what we Muslims believe in – I’m sure you can find it in your local library/obtain a copy from a bookstore as I’m sure you’re unfamiliar with it) perfectly highlight the seriousness of the situation:

And Allah knows and you know not.” (Surah Al-Nur) (The Qur’an – just in case you didn’t what “Surah” meant Syed Alam)

“Authorities went ahead with the execution despite widespread
international appeals against the move, including from UN Secretary

“A number of mis-information”? You mean, the mis-information – or rather, the LACK of ANY INFORMATION whatsoever in your mind.

  • Saifur Rahim

No wonder why muslims are branded as terrorists. Because these kinds of organizations present fabricated lies to the world and inspire extremism

  • Ash

And u tell me, does Islam support all them nasty people in shahbag, dancing and singing. Men and women sitting together. The Bangladesh corrupted govt did not have proof, evrything was fake. Evryone knows why the govt hung him, just for political reasons!! This government needs to realise they are not more powerful than Allah. And Allah knows best.

  • Chorom Udasher Choto Vai

That clearly states ICNA’s ideology. They dont work for Islam, they are doing bad for Islam by supporting a mass-murderer, terrorist and rapist. Real Muslim brothers, please leave this type of organization if you want to secure Jannah afterlife. Amen

  • Chorom Udasher Mejho Vai

What a pathetic organization supporting terrorist, murderer and rapist. Real Muslim, please leave ICNA and let some stupid think the way they are thinking. Jahannam is waiting for this group leaders

  • zaman

don’t spread rumour. it is sin in islam. go back to 41 years back and see how brutally he killed people . do you think after crime, some one joined Islamic party , keep beard or pray 5 times a day will allow indemnity from what he has done. In the name of islam, , what you are doing , it’s disgrace to islam. do your homework before publish any nonsense if you truly represent islam.

  • Flys

Ashrafuzzaman Khan is a convicted war criminal and he heads the NY office of ICNA, I wouldn’t be surprised of he was behind this article as his co-conspirator/comrade was hanged for war crimes.

    Become
outrageous and talking vulgar is one of the prominent attribute of a Munafiq (Hippocrates).

    If you
call yourself a muslim, I very respectfully request you to check your status of
    Iman (faith).

  • Zahid Hasan

Only 3 questions to this article writer.
    1. During 1971 independence war of Bangladesh when Pakistani army was mass murdering Bangladeshi people, were there any Bangladeshi collaborator aiding Pakistani army in massacre (who is known as razakar)? If the answer is no then you are an evil liar, if the answer is yes go to 2nd question.
    2. As a general citizen of Bangladesh, we usually accuse most of the mass murderer and colloborator of Pakistani army is/was involved with Jamat-Islami (and few with BNP and League as well) such as Golam Azam, Quader Mollah, Muzahid, SAKA of BNP. We want all of them to face justice no matter what their political color is. If you believe Quader Mollah, Golam Azam are angel like human for whom you are trying to bias whole world, you the writer better give us some name who collaborated, aided pakistani army and killed many people. And then you’ll realize to whom you are supporting. Dig the history before you write. So re-phrasing the 2nd question is, give us only 10 name who killed Bangladeshi people in 1971 war? And you’ll get the facts.
    3. The final question is what was the role of Jamat-Islami during 1971 independence war of Bangladesh? Explain.
This is one is not a question but an exclamation that if you reference to UN secretary now, where were they when 3 million people died and 0.2 million woman raped? I hope in your next article regarding this war criminal justice issue you’ll try to shed some lights in these areas.
    Thanks

Brace yourself. Some advice to check the status of your iman with respect is coming.

  • Mahmud Islam

This is extremely disappointing. I really thought ICNA was a free and fair institution for practicing Islam, but it seems like it has become a political institution. This kind of post is extremely shameful. A war criminal of Bangladesh who has been directly involved in mess murder has been punished and this is a proud moment of Bangladesh. STOP defending criminal (it is a complete internal matter).
I am preventing all my donations to ICNA, and requesting all my friends to do so as well since NOW we don’t know where the donation money goes.

    This is embarrassing.

  • Mahmud Islam

This is shameful. I thought ICNA was a independent institution. I and they are now defending proven war criminals, rapists, mess murderers!!!

I am boycotting ICNA and my donations towards it.

  • Abdul Wahab

Those of you here that are questioning ICNA, you should question yourselves, WHY, why United Nations, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and several international bodies have condemned the way these courts were established and trials conducted? If so confidently as you guys are saying, the Hasina’s Govt were also so confident about Kader Mollah and other Jamat leaders’ crime during 71, WHY the Hasina’s GOvt has to take a bias, fraudulent way to trial Jamat leaders and execute Kader Mollah? Did all these World organizations become Jamat Supporters or they are just supporting the truth? Really ask yourselves these questions.

  • Sajjad Maruf

An Islamic organization must not advocate a convicted war criminal who was found guilty of rape, child killing and mass murder. Shame on ICNA.

  • Saif Alam

ICNA is a American institution not an extension of Pakistan or Jamati Islami. I urge ICNA to withdraw this post ASAP. This post offends many Bangladeshi American ICNA members. Abdul Quader Mollah was not murdered but executed by People’s Republic of Bangladesh for war crimes. Calling Abdul Quader Mollah’s execution a murder equates to calling Osama Bin Laden’s killing by the US a political murder. These folk Quader and Osama are proven killers and deserved their punishment. I will stop supporting ICNA and it’s organization if this statement is not withdrawn.

  • Abrar Ahmed

Dear all, friends and foe alike, its time for reflection? truly this exposes the love of Nationalism over Islam, or the Islamic disguise of those secularist and there love for Godlessness over Godliness. Had this man died a natural death a few days back nothing would have mattered, full stop. Its interesting how Allah plans for us our lives; and indeed our death too, the man died at his fixed time, not an iota of a second would it have been possible to have moved either way; as we know from the hadith. what is most interesting is that even by his death Allah exposed those whose love for the secular is greater than that of Islam.
Abrar Ahmed, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

  • Mia

This is not news, but an unfounded opinion. Mollah is involved in genocides of 3 million people and the rapes of 500,000 women. And expresses no remorse.

  • Kazi Nabi

Mr. Naeem Baig. Please stop calling this Criminal a Muslim. A person who commits all kinds of crimes known to mankind can never be called a muslim. Thanks to Allah, the world is less one such criminal.

  • Abdul Wahab

Those of you, who question ICNA about this article, should
question yourselves. Why United Nations, Amnesty
International, Human Rights Watch, and several international bodies have
condemned the way these courts were established and trials conducted? All of a sudden,
these organizations became Jamat supporters or they are just supporting the
truth. If Hasina’s Killer tribunal were as confident as you guys are about the
war crimes of Jamat leaders, why this tribunal is so bias and fraudulent? Why
Hasina has to influence the trial process (as disposed by the skype scandal)
and kidnap witness from court front and secretly push him to India? Please ask
yourself these questions. I am sure you will get an answer, if you are sincere.

  • Khairul Hasan Rafique

Can you imagine almost 1200 salatul janza performed all over the world for Shahid Abdul Qader Muulla. May Allah SWT accept his SHADATH Ameen.

  • Khandaker Moinur Rahman

Brother, your reply clearly indicates how little knowledge u have about the inside story. Our country Bangladesh is an independent country that has its own constitution, laws and judiciary system. It doesn’t follow the Shariah law. So the question of 4 witnesses is totally invalid here.

Thanks for reminding me about the ayats from Quran. But I would ask you to do a little bit of research before talking to someone who spent more than 90% of his life in Bangladesh. Who was born and raised in Bangladesh knowing the true history.

How pathetic it looks that you just got a one-sided opinion from someone/group and believed it. Not only believing but also spreading that false opinion using the name of an Islamic organization.

Please don’t just believe what others say. I welcome you to visit our country, know our history from inside.

    Thanks.
