Although dozens of Bengali children may have been less than enthused to be heading back to school, they eagerly awaited their turn to receive a free backpack filled with supplies in Ozone Park Tuesday.
Councilman Eric Ulrich, center, and members of ICNA Relief handed out the school supplies outside MedAid Pharmacy at 77-08 101 Ave.
ICNA Relief, a Muslim advocacy group, has hosted back-to-school drives across the country and has handed out more than 100,000 backpacks to students in low-income areas, according to Omar Ranginwala, the organization’s Back2School project director.
