New Jersey (September 27, 2011) – Three weeks ago Hurricane Irene ripped across the eastern United States, battering states from North Carolina to Vermont and hitting parts of New York City and the tri-state area. As we watched these events unfold, ICNA Relief stepped in to offer assistance. Disaster relief services ranged from offering shelter to those whose homes has been damaged by the storm, to distributing food and water to communities.

September 24, 2011 – A California councilman named Derek Reeve is under fire for he avowed in a council meeting on Sept. 6 that he named one of his two dogs after Muhammad– the Muslim prophet. However, Muslims regard dog as unclean. The other dog is named “America”.

Sept 22, 2011 – Islamic Circle of North America’s Southern California chapter praises a council member’s criticism of Councilman Derek Reeve’s comment that he had named his dog Muhammad, after the Muslim prophet. The group says it won’t rule out a protest in San Juan Capistrano against the remark.
