But here in the US it will also have a shadow over it, this year the end of Ramadan concludes — an eerie coincidence — shortly before the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The Islamic Society of Delaware Saturday joined Muslim groups across the country in giving out backpacks “to help the community in this hard economy,” spokesman Ali Khan said.
More than 300 supply-loaded packs were given first-come, first-served while the quickly dwindling supply lasted at the society center at 28 Salem Church Road, Ogletown.

By now, drivers on the New Jersey Turnpike may have noticed the two billboards advertising an toll free number for callers to ask Muslim volunteers about their faith.
Many of the questions so far address Sharia law, jihad or the holy month of Ramadan, said Ashfaq Parkar, the national coordinator for the Islamic Circle of North America, which runs the hotline.
