The Most-Visited Booth at the LA Book Festival 2011

LOS ANGELES, California (May 22, 2011) – While controversy sparked over the change of venue from UCLA to USC for the 2011 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books held last month, fortunately for the volunteers of WhyIslam, the outreach project of ICNA Southern California Chapter, traffic flow to their booth was unhindered. In fact, their booth was one of the busiest at the festival this year.

Many of us speak of Lauren Booth, a recent Muslim convert, as the sister-in-law of Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister of Great Britain. They do her injustice. She has carved out a career as a fearless broadcaster and journalist on behalf of the oppressed. In fact, it would be more appropriate to identify Mr. Blair as the brother-in-law of Lauren Booth. Given his role in the Iraq war, such identification could even help Mr. Blair recover part of his dwindling reputation.

First Muslim Info Booth at Latino Festival

LOS ANGELES, California (May 8, 2011) – Today the Annual Fiesta Broadway Festival, billed as the world’s largest Cinco de Mayo event, attracted half a million people who converged on 24 blocks in downtown Los Angeles. Over 50,000 people visited the first ever information booth on Islam organized by ICNA Southern California Chapter’s outreach project WhyIslam.

American Muslims Provide Relief After Storms- NY Times

LA Times Festival of Books WhyIslam Booth – 2011

LOS ANGELES, California (April 22, 2011) — This weekend, WhyIslam, a project of ICNA, dedicated to eradicating misconceptions about Islam, is handing out free literature and translated copies of the Qur’an at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at the University of Southern California (USC) on April 30 and May 1.

Last year, WhyIslam handed out 4640 copies of the Qur’an and more than 8,000 pamphlets and audio CD’s at the event that has now become the largest Muslim outreach booth in America.
